It all started in the South Oak Cliff section of Dallas, Texas, a small hood most known for being one of the most dangerous ghettoes in the nation. Jesse taught himself how to read and became enamored with learning and building elaborate designs. His older brother, a respected local figure and military soldier, grandfathered a young Jesse Heavyweight into hip hop from day one. Jesse was recruited to an indie outfit at the age of 12 years old, the label went defunct once one of the 21 year old owners went to prison. Jesse launched a local hip hop set. Impromptu freestyle performances gave Jesse a local buzz and he led the crew to countless underground rap shows all over the city. At only 13 Jesse was a buzzing name among the Texas circuit. Jesse went to one of the best public high schools in the nation, a magnet school that bussed in smart neighborhood kids to downtown Dallas, then landed academic scholarship to attend historic and star studded Howard University.

Jesse Is Heavyweight launched his own imprint Heavyweight Entertainment in Charles Drew Hall as a freshman at the iconic Howard U. Jesse’s company released successful music projects for various artists, threw historic parties and Jesse performed all across the nation. Not only did Heavyweight make a name for Jesse but it also catapulted him as a respected businessman and real force in the independent game.
Jesse Heavy weight launches his first multi-million dollar company out of a dorm room.
Jesse Is Heavyweight released original mixtapes to feed the streets. He flooded the hoods of America with over 2 dozen releases, selling them to shops and “out of the trunk” as well as flooding mixtape sites. Legendary Juice Crew member Biz Markie DJ’d a big concert for Jesse Is Heavyweight which made Jesse an honorary Juice Crew member. Jesse became a commodity and was offered a record deal from the President at Def Jam, Shakir Stewart, but opted for one of the first digital distribution label deals allowing Jesse to maintain full ownership of his masters with Sony RED. After innovating the business in countless ways Jesse Heavyweight decided to relocate to Hollywood, California in order to expand his artist brand and Heavyweight Enterprises was birthed.

As an established underground staple Jesse Is Heavyweight began DaChickenShack non profit group. Jesse ran Christmas toy drives under the Heavyweight Community Association until he moved from Houston to Los Angeles. Jesse decided that a toy drive although good intentioned sent the wrong message about what should be valued and he ultimately reimagined the HCA to the DCS, ending his turkey and toy drives indefinitely. Jesse launched a scholarship program to coincide with DCS. Jesse is the coChairman of a prestigious scholarship fund, the Esco – Fortune Scholarship Fund, in honor of two Howard University classmates and entrepreneurs, supermodel and actor JuBar “Esco” Croswell and famed tattooist Andrew Fortune. The Esco – Fortune Scholarship Fund helps send at least one at risk male student from the inner city to a university of their choice. In addition, he is coFounder of the Healthy Ecology & Economy for Mankind organization and has championed the Beautify The Globe Initiative by cleaning one street at a time, presently the group has cleaned over 7,240 streets in the US.

He found his way out through the power of hip hop. His initial success led to more success and he launched Jupiter, a ferocious investment group. He owns acres of land, stocks and other highly valuable assets. As a result all his projects hit harder. Every release from him as an artist is heavier. Jesse Is Heavyweight is a hip hop baby dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the culture. Jesse understands that the culture of hip hop and the business of hip hop entertainment are two separate things. He has significant control of the culture bending it at will. Jesse Is Heavyweight spends his days at the science lab testing and tweaking new inventions. As a result of valuing education Jesse Is Heavyweight is an alumnus of Howard University, UCLA, Rice University as well as MIT in the greater Boston area.
